CCTV Systems

Circuit Television Systems are increasing in popularity
because of their effectiveness in supporting facility
security operations. This growing acceptance
allows our department to provide better services to
those that may fall victim to theft or property damage.
The university recently invested in a CCTV system
for physical security in the School of Music.
Video cameras installed at exits of the building are
recorded on time-lapse VCR equipment. Recordings
are securely maintained for evidence purposes in the
event of theft or vandalism. These cameras are
not monitored; they are present as a deterrent of theft
and the recordings are kept for the evidentiary
value only. Shortly after being installed, this
system has proved its effectiveness, by catching a
criminal on tape and providing the information needed
for conviction.
In other high risk locations on campus, portable and
fixed CCTV systems are used to deter loss or damage of
property, and to capture any such criminal activity on
tape. |
