MEMORANDUM
June 5, 2009
TO: University of Oregon Students, Faculty, and Staff
FROM: Captain Herb Horner, Parking and Commuter Services
RE: Parking Information and Updates
We are nearing the end of the spring term and with that comes the residence hall-move-out and commencement.
During these events please be aware of the following temporary modifications to parking and traffic on campus:
Residence Hall Move-out
Monday, June 8, 2009, through Friday, June 12, 2009, the bike lanes on Agate Street from 13th Avenue to 15th Avenue will be closed to bike traffic and used for vehicle parking. With the closure of Lot 37 (east side of the Hamilton Complex) the bike lanes are expected to be very heavily used.
Wednesday, June 10, 2009, through Friday June 12, 2009, the meters on 13th Avenue from Agate Street to Franklin Boulevard, and on 15th Avenue from Agate Street to Moss Street will be reserved for move-out. The meters on Agate Street from 15th Avenue to 17th Avenue will also be reserved for move-out parking.
The university will be utilizing CMS (Crowd Management Services) employees to assist with controlling parking in certain areas and directing move-out drivers. CMS personnel will be staffed at the following locations:
The old entrance to Lot 37 to keep control vehicle movement into the lot excluding delivery and service vehicles.
In the area of Beech Street and Carson Hall.
The entrance to Lots 33 and 44 (next to Bean Hall and Grad Village) to limit the number of vehicles parking to those spaces that are available in Lot 33.
15th Avenue from Agate Street to Onyx Street.
Lots 29A and 29D (Onyx Street near the EMU east lawn, and the metered visitor lot)
We are asking that employees not park on 15th Avenue during this time so as to allow parents to assist their students in moving from the residence halls.
Commencement
For pedestrian safety, University Street will be closed to parking and through traffic on Friday, June 12, 2009 and Saturday, June 13, 2009. The university will be hosting a significant number of ceremonies at Mac Court on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Due to anticipated pedestrian movement and individual celebrations following the ceremonies it is important to restrict vehicular movement during this time.
Lot 30, located through the iron gate and behind Mac Court, will be closed. The east side of Mac Court is used for students to line up and march into Mac Court. CMS will be posted at both ends of University Street and the entrance to Lot 30.
Note
The College of Education will be holding a dedication ceremony for their new facilities off of Alder Street, on Thursday, June 11, 2009. Signs will be posted starting Monday, June 8, 2009, informing everyone that the parking lots will be closed for the event that Thursday afternoon.
