RE: Parking Information and Update
From Monday, August 10, 2009 through Tuesday, September 1, 2009, Agate Street will be closed between 13th and 15th Avenues. This closure is the result of construction work taking place in the area of the Agate Street crosswalk and is related to the University Power Plant project. Signs have been posted in a number of locations alerting the community of this closure.
To help mitigate the inconvenience to the campus, the DO NOT ENTER signs on 13th Avenue at the turn-a-round near the Volcanology building will be removed and traffic will be permitted to enter the heart of campus for the purpose of making a left turn onto University Street. This detour will only be possible during the closure of Agate Street. Please understand traffic will not be allowed to enter the closed portion of 13th Avenue. If you enter the heart of campus, you will be required to turn left onto University Street.
The dates have not been finalized, but on a weekend in August there will be street work on 13th Avenue from Agate Street to Beech Street, and on Johnson Lane. The work on 13th Avenue will result in closing one lane at a time in order to repair and seal the pavement. Please watch for flaggers when this work is being done. The work to Johnson Lane will require closing the street in order to repair and seal it. Similar work may be done in Lot 23, (known as the Johnson Hall lot) on the same weekend. Once the dates for this work are set a notice will be issued.
