Special Events Reserved Parking
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) endeavors to
accommodate special and event parking requests for the
University of Oregon community. However, an
increasing demand for this service can conflict with
the normal parking demands of students, faculty, and
staff and may result in a significant loss of available
parking. With this in mind, we will endeavor to provide
parking for special requests, guests, events, but we
can not guarantee space will be available (for your
guests/participants, you may download a printable parking
brochure (.pdf file) or
campus
parking map (.pdf file).
- Requests for special parking arrangements (EMU
Lot 29A reservation or hooded meter spaces)
must arrive at DPS a minimum of five (5)
business days prior to the event. Specific
areas or spaces will be reserved subject to
availability on a first-come, first-served
basis.
- The fee for parking arrangements reflects the
cost of a metered parking space -- i.e.
$15.00 per day per meter to be hooded and
$615.00 per day for the EMU Visitor Lot 29A,
in one-day blocks.
- In your request, include: the dates and times
of your event (with the west gate access time
for Lot 29A); what the event is; who is
sponsoring it; the name, phone number and
e-mail address for the contact person; and
the account number for payment.
- Advise us of a short acronym or name that we
may place on silver tape on each meter hood
being placed in order to identify your
reservation. If you are requesting to reserve
the EMU Visitor Lot 29A, advise us as to
whether or not you will be providing a west
gate attendant (strongly recommended), and if
so, when they will arrive at the lot. We do
not hood meters for Lot 29A reservations --
the bollards are closed at the east and west
ends, and the lot is posted on these bollards
as to the reserved status.
- In your reservation request, you may ask for
the approximate location of the spaces you
would like reserved. We will endeavor to
reserve the spaces in that area if it is
possible. We will not make telephone
reservations or confirmations so that errors
and misunderstandings may be avoided. We will
be unable to specify exact locations of
reserved spaces (i.e. meter #123-23 in front
of Gerlinger Hall), but we will be able to
confirm that the location will be, for
example, on University Street between 15th
and Johnson Lane.
-
If
you find that someone has parked illegally in
the reserved space(s) you have scheduled,
please contact DPS (346-5444) immediately to
have the offending vehicle towed from
that space. Do not wait until the last
minute and then advise your guest/visitor(s)
to park in someone else's "hooded"
reserved space -- this would create a
cascading effect of displacement and could
result in your guest/visitor(s) being towed by
someone else. We will schedule and place
the space reservation, but we do not know who
legitimately belongs in your scheduled space(s)
and must rely on you to notify us when it is
being misused.
You may make your request online using the Special
Events Parking Request Form.
We will continue to strive to provide for these
special requests, but it must be remembered that we
have a primary duty to try and manage our limited
parking resources for the students, faculty and staff
of the University while maintaining as much available
parking for daily visitors and guests as we possibly
can. |
